Intimate weddings are quickly becoming some of my favorite weddings to look back on. There is just something so special about celebrating your love for one another with only your very closest family and friends. When Zina first messaged me about photographing their wedding she told me that they don’t live in Texas, but they HAD to get married in Texas because her mom is in bad health in a nursing home and wouldn’t be able to travel for their wedding and she HAS to have mom at her wedding. Which, obviously, makes my mama heart so happy. They planned on getting married in a beautiful Airbnb near her mother’s nursing home and showed me photos of it excitedly at our meeting.
However, a few months before their wedding, they found out her mom wouldn’t be able to leave the nursing home due to declining health. So they decided to get married in the little chapel area IN the nursing home. It was the sweetest thing ever. A live harp played while Zina walked down the aisle with her mother in the front row shedding happy tears. Sometimes the perfect wedding, isn’t perfect at all. But, the things that matter, the people, the love, the laughter and the tears, they are what you’ll remember from your wedding day. They make it your own weird little version of perfect.
The day before their wedding we met in Downtown Dallas and did their wedding portraits of just the two them and Dallas, as always, did not disappoint.
